Vet

Buckley, my georgeous black and white cat went to the vet today to be 'fixed'. Now both of my cats are desexed we don't have to worry about her getting out any more, though I'd still like her to be an inside cat. I'd hate for anything to happen to her, and she seems so happy to stay inside and sit on the couch next to me. It was a hard thing to leave her at the vet today, seeing her carried away in the plastic container I brought her in. You get so attached to pets, it's no wonder that people think of them as children. No doubt I'll end up a crazy cat lady in my old age.

I watched a movie today, Apocalypto. It's the Mel Gibson one, that he made after Passion of the Christ. To be honest I was a little scared of seeing this one. You see I saw Passion of the Christ at the cinema, and I was honestly traumatised by having seen it. I saw it with Mark, and we both sat in silence at Crown eating tea for a few hours afterwards. It was horrible, I never want to sit through it again. Anyway, in a few reviews that I read they said that this movie was worse than that, and I thought after how affected I was by Passion, how bad is this movie?!

But in the end I really enjoyed the story. It had a strong storyline, strong characters, a little mysticism and a fantastic ending. It was a well told and well filmed story. I will warn you that there is a lot of blood and lots of people die and get cut up so it is still a brutal story, but not in any way like I remember feeling after Passion. I've probably hyped it up a lot, but you could not pay me to see that movie again.

Off to see the wedding photos tomorrow! Yay!

Holidays

It's been really nice to relax, and I am storing it up for the next year to come. I'm starting to get nervous about stepping back into the classroom and dealing with students again. I have another week left of holidays before it all starts up again. Thankfully this is only an 8 week term.

I took a trip with my friend to a day spa for a night. She is such an easy person to spend time with, I don't have to worry about what I am around her. She's been taking me through the magical world of Buffy, it's fun and impossible and full of cute guys. It's much more interesting to watch than I thought it would be.

Having a new car is fantastic, with the hot days that we've had this summer acutally having airconditioning is a godsend. It was so easy to drive up to the day spa, it's spacious and i'm proud of how it looks - shiny and blue.

We finally took the last trips to the city to pick up the last of the things from the rental house. I now have a dining room table! We sanded it back and polished it with Danish Oil, which is fantastic. It brought out the natural colours of the wood, and matches the coffee table which we got for our wedding.

Roll on summer, I'm loving the sun.

Welcome to the New Year

The new year has started off really well. I finally feel like I am on holidays, now that I have gotten the Safeway work out of the way. The night shifts went well over the holidays, but the third night in a row was challenging to stay awake. Having stuff to do in the day made it hard for me to get enough sleep for the next night. Good thing it was only a few nights in a row. Good thing that I have done it enough times that I can do it in my sleep.

We made the last few trips to Melbourne to get the last of the furnature home from the rental house. It is a nice feeling to have finished that finally, it was something that I wondered about because I knew that the deadline was getting closer but not how it was going to get done. It's hard for everyone to make the trip because most people are still working, Mum and Dad are really tired at the moment.

I've had some time to do some organising around the house, things are looking really nice at the moment. I find it a peaceful thing to get things tidied away.

New years eve was really nice, I had some people over and we had a few drinks and bbq and sparklers and listened to old songs we remember. We had a chance to use the outdoor table setting. I'm getting to be a boring old house woman, but I'm really happy with where things are at right now.
