I'm tired, but coming out of the end of the busy-ness. I have had something on after work and on the weekend every night for three weeks. I've been to Melbourne four times in the past week, and having heaps of rehearsals for a concert coming up soon.
Classes are going ok, I am feeling like I am running out of time for VCE though. Is that normal? I would think so. I am going to have to have some extra time with them just to get the VCE students by themselves for a change. It's hard with a combined class to make sure that everyone learns everything that they need to. I have two students who are going great, some students who are picking it up quickly, and some students who still don't get it yet. I need to spend time with them all separately. But there just isn't time.
The production I am very underwhelmed about at this stage. I can't see how it will come out on stage yet! The scenes aren't being run, students aren't turning up to rehearsals, and some of it hasn't even been planned yet. No matter, the music will be awesome, and we have plans for a 'real' production next year instead of these 'made for schools' things which just have no substance. Blah, I don't like this one.
The world can just jump in a hole this weekend, I am having some me/family time. At home. With no need to watch the clock other than to check when to eat. I plan to practice horn and run on the treadmill and get some washing done and read my new book. And maybe watch Dexter on DVD.
It's my new favourite show, Dexter. Its quirky and arty and interesting and DIFFERENT! It's not like any thing else on T.V and if they tried to copy it it would suck. Pity it's on so late on a sunday. I have season 2 on my laptop, but I really want to finish season 1 properly. Haven't seen all the episodes and I would like to go back to the first episode and watch it from the start. A project for the holidays, perchance.
Bed. Bye.

Busy
Busy busy busy time of year this. At the moment I am rehearsing for heaps of different things, I am proud that I managed to say no to something. Phew.
It's a bit of a juggling act, keeping school going through third term. This is where most of the work gets done before we start winding up for christmas. I think that I have most of term 4 booked up, what with a trip to China in the holidays and the production and a trip away with the intermediate band and the vce solos and the junior concerts and recording night and assembly for the year 9s. Not to mention all the day to day running of a music classroom and band after school most nights a week.
I can see the end in sight with the VCE students and its SCARY. The exam is coming up soooooo fast, it will all be over before I know it, and I am nervous about it. It all hinges on me knowing all the details and being able to explain it enough that they can do whatever someone else is asking of them. The analysis stuff is hard and the theory stuff is complex and boring.
Going to Melbourne three times this week for the bands festival in Monash. I am looking forward to some trips away with the band students, they are always such good value to take away somewhere. They get used to following directions, so keeping them in line and listening to instructions is easier. They have spent some time together in the music classroom rehearsing, so they are used to being in a group. Its shared experiences that makes the best friends I think.
Also something exciting is that I entered one of my students into a compeition for the radio, and he gets to go down to Melbourne for the day and record some of his program! I don't know who was more excited!
Anway, it means lots of days off school for me this week and next, and lots of extras to write. Anyone say music dvd?
